EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades
The VA Portland Healthcare System had a two-phase approach to prepare for the Cerner EHRM transition at its Portland campus. GDM was tasked with both phases of work and provided all necessary A/E services for site investigation, design development, construction specifications, and construction period services for the development of detailed construction documents.
In the first phase, GDM designed the plan to upgrade the campus’s fiber optic network. This required all the fiber to be replaced on the Portland campus.
GDM designers also planned for site preparation so a training trailer could be installed at the campus.
During phase two, team members designed HVAC, electrical and data systems in administrative and clinical space that were defined as inadequate. Team members also worked to upgrade the electrical and HVAC systems that were deemed inadequate.
This project was performed on an accelerated schedule with both phases being completed simultaneously within the allotted time set aside of 210 days. Project has been received with high praise from VA stakeholders for adherence to schedule and budget.
The GDM team provided project management, architectural, civil, mechanical electrical, telecommunications, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services.
