Correct Fire Alarm & Fire Sprinkler Deficiencies

GDM was tasked with performing site investigation and professional design development services for the correction of fire alarm and fire sprinkler deficiencies at the VA Portland Health Care System. In support of this project our team provided designs for the replacement of an 8’ fire main cross connect between Bldgs. 100 and 101; installed EST3 Duct Detectors in the AHU’s serving the Main Atrium Lobby, B1 Pharmacy, Day Surgery, and the Auditorium; replaced firemans standpipe roof valves, fire pumps, jockey pumps, fire pump controller and backflow supple for floors 4 through 9. Additionally, our team provided designs for the replacement of 3 non-addressable pull stations on P1 EST3 pull stations with weatherproof covers and replaced 4 non-addressable pull stations on P2 (3 in garage, one in smokeshack, south end) with addressable EST3 pull stations with weatherproof covers.

Key personnel surveyed the existing sprinkler system and provided designs for the replacement of obsolete sprinklers and related equipment, and a fire hydrant that served Bldg. 102, P2 entrance. In order to meet the requirements of the hazmat shield fire suppression system we provided designs for the installation of one Amerex Industrial System 35ABC Fire Suppression System and relocated the pull station near the entry door.
