EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades

As a result of our extensive EHRM experience GDM was awarded the two-phase project to prepare the VA Portland Healthcare System’s Vancouver campus for the EHRM transition. This work included fiber upgrades, telecommunication closet improvements and HVAC upgrades. The team provided all necessary A/E services for site investigation, design development, construction specifications, and construction period services for the development of detailed construction documents.

In the first phase, GDM’s team planned to replace the fiber optic network across the entire campus. This phase focused on the CAT6A and fiber replacement. Work also included data, rack and punch panel in telecommunication closets.

During the phase two, the team designed HVAC, electrical and data systems in administrative and clinical spaces as well as in the telecommunication closets. This was done to address any issue that was outlined as inadequate in the EHRM infrastructure assessment.

This project was performed on an accelerated schedule with both phases being completed simultaneously within the allotted time set aside of 210 days. Furthermore, this project was performed at the same time as the Portland EHRM Infrastructure Upgrade project. This showcases our firm’s ability to simultaneously perform large scale electrical upgrades within the confines of an operation medical facility. Project has been received with high praise from VA stakeholders for adherence to schedule and budget.

The GDM team provided project management, architectural, civil, mechanical electrical, telecommunications, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services.
